Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 22, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how NotebookPlus ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the NotebookPlus browser extension, website at https://www.notebookplus.app, and related services (together, the "Services").
If you have any questions, contact us at hello@notebookplus.app.
Who we are
NotebookPlus is a Chrome and Edge extension that imports the webpage you are viewing into Google NotebookLM (also known as Gemini Notebook™). The website lets you create an account, manage your plan, and contact support.
NotebookPlus is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google LLC. NotebookLM™, Gemini™, and Gemini Notebook™ are trademarks of Google LLC.
Information we collect
We may collect and process:
- Account information — email address and authentication session data when you sign in with Google or an email one-time passcode (OTP).
- Subscription and billing status — plan name, status, and billing period. Payment card details are processed by Stripe and are not stored by us.
- Technical information — IP address, approximate country or postal region (when provided by our hosting provider), browser type, and error logs.
- Install attribution — browser store and extension channel, stored as cookies after you install or uninstall, so we can understand where an account came from.
- Support and feedback — messages and the email you submit through the contact or uninstall forms.
- Usage analytics — if analytics tools are enabled, we may collect page views, extension events (such as install or feature use), and similar product metrics. Events are limited to a product allowlist.
We do not ask you to upload the contents of your NotebookLM notebooks to our website. The extension interacts with NotebookLM in your browser; we do not use those page contents to build advertising profiles.
Browser extension data
Tags, prompts, source folders, and related settings stay local in your browser. Collections live in your Google account. NotebookPlus does not send notebook content to third-party servers.
How we use information
We use information to:
- provide the Services, authenticate you, and keep you signed in
- process payments, activate paid plans, and manage subscriptions
- send login verification codes and respond to support requests
- understand reliability, diagnose errors, and improve the product
- measure installs, usage, and upgrades (when analytics are enabled)
We do not sell your personal information.
Cookies and local storage
We use cookies and similar storage to keep you signed in and to remember install attribution (channel / store). After you sign in on the website, an auth token may be stored in the browser so the extension can request your account and subscription status.
You can clear cookies and site data in your browser settings. Doing so will sign you out.
Data sharing
We share information with service providers who help us operate the Services, only as needed:
- Authentication and account storage — hosted database used by our auth system
- Email delivery — OTP codes and support-form notifications
- Payments — Stripe for checkout, subscriptions, and billing
- Hosting — our website host (including standard request logs)
- Analytics — Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, and/or Mixpanel when configured
These providers process data under their own terms and appropriate safeguards. We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the Services and our users.
Data retention
We keep account and subscription records while your account is active and as needed for billing, support, and legal obligations. You can ask us to delete your account by emailing hello@notebookplus.app.
Your choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information, or to object to certain processing. Contact hello@notebookplus.app and we will respond within a reasonable time.
You can stop using the extension by uninstalling it, and you can close your account by contacting us.
Children's privacy
The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
International users
The Services are operated from servers that may be located outside your country (including the United States). By using the Services, you understand that your information may be processed in those locations.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised policy.
